Summary
Fred likes to play around, cycle, swim and walk, but cannot do this aloneDetailed description
Who is Fred?
Fred is a 63-year-old man with a severe intellectual disability and Down syndrome. He lives in a residential group at the residential care park of 's Heeren Loo, where he receives 24-hour care. He functions at a level comparable to that of a toddler. He speaks a little, but indistinctly. He makes noises to make things clear. If you know him a little better, you will recognize these sounds. When Fred likes something, he is happy. He laughs and seeks contact a lot; also physically through a hug or play. He enjoys 1 on 1 attention and fun. But he can also be stubborn and get angry. The latter does not happen very often. He likes to cycle on the back of the tandem, likes to play in the swimming pool (the swimming pool at our residential care park is unfortunately closed), likes to walk, likes to drink or eat something in our Brasserie and regularly sits on the swing or his go-kart. He loves to play; this can be quite fast. Fred has epilepsy.
What does Fred ask?
We are looking for a volunteer for Fred who will come especially for him. Someone who, just like him, enjoys fun, but also has patience. Someone who doesn't shy away from a romp. Fred would like to cycle on the tandem with a buddy, take a walk, go on fun outings or go to activities that 's Heeren Loo offers at the residential care park. The day, time and frequency are in consultation. Cycling for an hour once a month is already very valuable. Due to his daytime activities, this can be done after 6:00 PM during the week or during the weekend. Are you coming especially for Fred?
