Uzeyir is a 64 year old Turkish man with a moderate intellectual disability. He enjoys cycling together on the tandem bike.Detailed description
Who is Uzeyir?
Uzeyir is a 64-year-old Turkish man with a moderate intellectual disability. This can be compared to the age of a toddler/preschooler. He lives in a residential group at the residential care park of 's Heeren Loo, where he receives 24-hour supervision. He speaks reasonable Dutch, but is sometimes difficult to understand or comprehend. When we speak calmly and in short sentences, he understands us well at his level. Yzeyir likes to be outside, especially on the tandem bike. He is very social and likes to greet everyone he meets. He loves conviviality! Conviviality also includes a cup of coffee and a cigarette. During the day he goes to day care at the residential care park. Unfortunately, he suffers from COPD, which makes him short of breath and cough regularly. He has medication for this.
What is Uzeyir asking?
For Uzeyir we are looking for a volunteer who wants to cycle with him once a month on our tandem bike. Afterwards, having a cup of coffee somewhere is a real treat. Perhaps if it works out, this could be done more often. The time and day can be agreed with his guidance. Preferably a male volunteer. Someone who can frame him when necessary. Someone who enjoys when he enjoys!
