Summary
In the event of a disaster or crisis, the Red Cross is ready to provide assistance to people in need.Detailed description
In the event of a disaster or crisis, the Red Cross is ready to provide assistance to people in need. Such as in the reception of refugees, during a pandemic, after a flood or providing first aid at events.
We are also active in areas where people lack basic necessities such as food and shelter, and in the areas of education and prevention.
In order to help themselves or others, it is important that people become aware of risks. Risk awareness can also contribute to preventing emergency situations. And prevention is of course better than cure.
The Red Cross in the Kennemerland district is looking for enthusiastic
workshop leaders "Well Prepared" (volunteer).
Our Well Prepared program is intended to improve the self-reliance of people in vulnerable situations, including the elderly.
We do this, for example, by preparing them well for an emergency situation. This includes preventing fire, burglary and injuries from falling.
In order to help as many people as possible, the Red Cross has developed various workshops on the importance of being well prepared.
Students become aware of risks in the home, receive tips and can ask for advice.
About what you are going to do
-You give workshops on request to various target groups at a community center, a senior center, the library, etc.
Participants become aware of risks in and around the house, receive tips and can ask for advice. For example, think of preventing fire, burglary and falls. Everyone leaves with practical tips that they can apply at home immediately. If something really does happen, people will be stronger and better prepared. A workshop lasts about 1.5 to 2 hours and can be given together with another workshop leader.
About what you bring
-You have an affinity with safety and hazard prevention in and around the home.
-You enjoy standing in front of a group, alone or together.
-When giving workshops you inspire and motivate participants.
-You have a good command of the Dutch language.
-You are flexible in your deployment, especially during the day.
What do we have to offer you?
-First of all, taking action for the Red Cross is incredibly fun! It gives you satisfaction, it expands your network and you work with people who are committed with enthusiasm.
-There is plenty of room for initiative and personal development. For new volunteers
There is a welcome program where you can get to know the Red Cross better.
-In addition to a volunteer agreement, the Red Cross also gives you the opportunity to develop yourself and follow training courses.
-Of course you will receive a travel and expense allowance and you will be insured when you work for the Red Cross.
About us
Helping people in need around the corner – and far away, from our hearts and with our sleeves rolled up – that is what the Red Cross stands for.
We do this by increasing people's resilience, so that they help themselves and others in emergency situations. In addition, we offer emergency aid and increase the helpfulness and willingness to help. The Red Cross helps in the Netherlands together with more than fourteen thousand volunteers by offering, among other things, Emergency Aid, Event Aid, First Aid (education) and Citizen Aid. We are the link in the field of self-reliance between the (local) care and safety domain.
We are looking for enthusiastic and committed volunteers and are not guided by cultural background, gender identity, religious beliefs, orientation or age.
