Do you assist people in their most vulnerable moments during major events?
Every municipality in the Netherlands has the task of caring for its residents in the event of a disaster or crisis situation. The Red Cross has been appointed by the government to support municipalities in this. In addition to the defense, police, fire brigade and hospitals, the Population Care team is ready to provide assistance to affected people. For example, the team can help with the evacuation and shelter of residents after a fire or flood. The team is also ready to assist people after a tragic event. We provide population care on a large and small scale. Not all requests for help are urgent. The team also helps to temporarily support asylum seekers when setting up an emergency crisis reception location. Schiphol is also part of the working area. The Red Cross regularly takes action here in the event of major disruptions and when travelers become stranded.

About what you're going to do
· After a call in your region, you report to your team leader and team to provide assistance at a reception location;
· You are the first point of contact for those affected at that time;
· You provide help and care. This can vary from organizational and practical to helping hands and a listening ear. Providing food, sanitary facilities and/or a place to sleep may also be part of your task.
About the team
As a Population Care Assistant, the Kennemerland Red Cross district team is your base. The Head of Population Care ensures that you feel included in the team and is your point of contact. During a deployment you will be managed by the Population Care Team Leader. You work together with other volunteers in a great team. Together you are ready to receive vulnerable people at various locations in the Kennemerland district.
About you
· For this position it is necessary that you speak Dutch well and are in good physical and mental condition;
· You make contact smoothly, put the other person at ease and are socially skilled, but also know how to tackle things;
· You are flexible and work independently in a team;
· You have your own transport to drive to the location in your region in case of a call;

· You are willing to follow E-learning courses to become acquainted with the Red Cross and its basic principles;

About what this volunteer work brings you
· Lots of satisfaction, because you provide essential help to fellow human beings where and when this is really needed;
· A first aid diploma is not required. It is possible to develop yourself professionally through training in the field of first aid, basic first aid, communicating with a walkie-talkie and population care;
· An opportunity to further develop yourself and your decisive or humane qualities in a crisis situation, allowing you to gain experience and build a network within an emergency aid organization;
· You will receive a volunteer agreement, which will reimburse travel costs and expenses. You are also insured during the work.

About us
Helping people in need around the corner - and far away, from our hearts and with our sleeves rolled up - that is what the Red Cross stands for.
We do this by increasing people's resilience, so that they help themselves and others in emergency situations. We also provide emergency assistance and increase helpfulness and willingness to help. The Red Cross, together with more than fourteen thousand volunteers, helps in the Netherlands by providing Emergency Aid, Event Aid, First Aid (education) and Citizen Aid, among other things. We are the connector in the field of self-reliance between the (local) healthcare and safety domains.
When choosing the right candidate, the Red Cross is not guided by cultural background, physical limitations, gender identity, religious beliefs, orientation or age.
