Summary
Hans likes cycling, walking, fun outings, drinking coffee, going to church, but is unable to do this alone because of his intellectual disabilityDetailed description
Who is Hans?
Hans is a 73-year-old man with a severe intellectual disability. He lives in a residential group at the residential care park of 's Heeren Loo where he receives 24-hour care. He functions at the level of a baby. That's why he can't talk. He makes it clear that he doesn't like something by slapping his hand against his cheek. It is important to get to know his body language. This requires a different way of looking at someone. Hans enjoys individual attention. Cycling together on the side-by-side tandem. Going for a walk in our residential care park, along to activities organized by 's HeerenLoo, having a cup of coffee somewhere, going to church at our residential care park or coloring or doing puzzles together. He values clarity and knowing what is going to happen or what is expected of him. His supervisors are happy to tell you more about Hans.
What is Hans asking?
For Hans we are looking for a volunteer who comes for Hans during the week after 18:00 or during the weekend. The day, time and frequency are negotiable. An hour once a month is already very nice, but more is also nice. Someone who can take him out of the crowd for a while and take him for a walk, cycle, go to church somewhere, have a cup of coffee with him or something else fun. His supervisors are happy to tell you what he likes. Someone who can offer him clarity and structure and become a trusted person for him.
