Job title:
Hostess / host
Job description:
Viore is a center for people living with cancer. A group of enthusiastic volunteers is active within Viore. Hostesses / hosts receive visitors, provide a warm welcome and perform small household tasks. You provide the initial reception for our visitors, you are a listening ear for them. The warm welcome includes providing coffee / tea / soup. You are the first in contact with new visitors, receive them, show them around our building and tell about the Viore program. You are also partly responsible for ensuring that it looks neat and homely. In our center you come into contact with people at a very vulnerable period in their lives. Joy and sorrow come to the table. Sometimes people cry, but also laugh!
At the moment we are looking for volunteers who want to work on a fixed part of the day as well as volunteers who want to take place in the flex pool. In time, someone from the flex pool can move on to a fixed morning or afternoon if desired.
We ask:
It is essential that you can listen carefully without 'filling in' yourself, that you are involved and that you always focus on the visitor and their needs. Sense of humor, the ability to improvise and a practical attitude are highly appreciated. Working independently is important, but also collaboration.
What do we have to offer the volunteer:
Viore offers you volunteer work in an informal, warm and collegial atmosphere. You will be carefully trained (see below). Agreements about tasks and working hours are laid down in a volunteer agreement and a code of conduct. You will be involved in our annual team outings and celebrations.
Induction method and guidance:
After an introductory meeting, you will first play a few redundant times and you will receive an explanation from an experienced host or hostess.
You will receive basic training that is specifically aimed at working in a center like Viore. In addition, you participate on average once every two to three months in intervision / work consultation / in-depth training. The volunteer coordinator conducts an annual evaluation / progress meeting with each volunteer.
Working hours:
In consultation. We ask the hosts to make themselves available one half day per week. At the moment we are looking for volunteers who want to work on a fixed part of the day as well as volunteers who want to take place in the flex pool. In time, someone from the flex pool can, if desired, move on to a fixed morning or afternoon when a permanent volunteer leaves.
