Depending on the number of trips and your own availability, you will sail several times a month during the season from April to October.
The skipper is a volunteer on the Blauwe Bever but must also meet a number of (legal) requirements to be allowed to sail our beautiful ship.
You must be in possession of a Large Inland Navigation Certificate or a valid Rhine patent. In addition to the fact that the skipper must also undergo periodic medical examinations, he/she must be in possession of a First Aid Provider (EHV) declaration and a Passenger Shipping Expert Declaration (DPV). The training for this is paid for by the Rijnoevervaarten Foundation.
Of course there is a training period depending on knowledge and experience to get to know the ship. In April and May De Blauwe Bever mainly sails once in the weekend and then several days a week, with the exception of Mondays. In the high season (July and August) we sail almost daily.
