About Save the Children (TeamUp)
Since 2015, the Netherlands has been welcoming thousands of refugees, after which War Child, Save the Children and UNICEF Netherlands decided to pool their years of experience and expertise in TeamUp, the project for refugee children in the Netherlands. Refugee children in the Netherlands have been through a lot. In their country of origin and during the trip to the Netherlands, they were exposed to war, violence and stressful situations. Unfortunately, the uncertainty and stress does not stop here. In the Netherlands, children often have to move and are worried about their parents and friends. This has made them afraid and insecure. At night they often have nightmares, during the day they are quiet and withdrawn or aggressive. They generally find it difficult to trust people. At TeamUp we do something about that TeamUp offers structured recreational sports, games and exercise activities so that children from 6 to 18 years old learn how to deal with their feelings. The skills they acquire from us are linked to socio-emotional themes. They come in handy in their daily lives. \ N \nActivities \n \nTeamUp in Shelter Locations The project is currently running in more than twenty shelter locations across the country. The ultimate goal is to give as many refugee children - in any kind of shelter as possible - this opportunity. That is why we are looking for volunteers to supervise the activities three hours a week. You will be trained and supervised by TeamUp and will work at a location near you.
