Summary
As an external driver you will be deployed to transport sick, injured and/or found animals to shelters outside our working area.Detailed description
Who are we
Animal Ambulance Nederrijn is estimated to be called out more than 3500 times a year to help animals in need in the municipalities of Ede, Renkum, Rhenen, Veenendaal and Wageningen. Our volunteers are ready for this task 24 hours a day, 365 days a year!
The main task of the animal ambulance is to help animals in need. These can be animals from nature, but also found pets. In addition, we drive for owners by appointment to, among other things, a vet, boarding house or groomer.
Activities
As an external driver, you transport an animal that has been picked up by one of our animal ambulances to a shelter outside our working area. This is important, because the animal ambulances must remain in the working area at all times. Shelters that we work with can be found in Amersfoort, Halle and Nijkerkerveen. You do not have to drive your own transport, a special animal transport vehicle is available.
What do we ask?
We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated volunteers, but we do have a number of requirements:
- Proficiency in the Dutch language must be good
- You are at least 20 years old
- You can handle a smartphone and a tablet
- You live in our region (the central post is in Heelsum)
- You can demonstrably prove that you are in possession of a driving license B
What do we offer?
Of course we have a lot to offer:
- You work in a team of enthusiastic colleagues
- You are insured and can claim travel expenses reimbursement
- There are plenty of social activities: an annual Christmas gathering; an annual team building with barbecue; an annual New Year's reception and much more!
Time Spent
Because we never know in advance when we will pick up an animal that has to be transported to a shelter further away, it is difficult to give an estimate of the time spent. Calls are made ad hoc via a WhatsApp group or phone call. Can you? Very much so. If not, then next time. However, it is busier with calls in the summer than in the winter, because more animals are picked up then.
