Driver animal transport

Who are we

Animal Ambulance Nederrijn is called out more than 3600 times a year to help animals in need in the municipalities of Ede, Renkum, Rhenen, Veenendaal and Wageningen. Our volunteers are ready for this task 24 hours a day, 365 days a year!

The main task of the animal ambulance is to transport animals in need. This can be wild animals, but also pets. In addition to that, by appointment we can drive pets to for example the veterinarian, boarding house or groomer.

Vacancy specific information

As driver animal transport you are an indispensable volunteer for our ambulance. Becuase you transport animals with our specific animal transport vehicle to locations outside our working area, the ambulances are free help animals in our area.

The most common destinations for animal transport are in Amersfoort, Halle and Nijkerkerveen. Occasionally, it could be other locations too. Depending on the location of the destination, you will be on the job for about two hours in total, for transporting the animal back and forth and afterwards the cleaning of the transportation crates.

It is an important task, which releaves the animal ambulance and is a valuable contribution to the work we do for the animals.

Tasks

• Safely transport of animals from our location in Heelsum to the destinated locations
• Delivery of the animals, for which you have to relocate the animal to a crate
• Cleaning of the transportation crate after the transport and keeping the designated transportation vehicle tidy
• Keeping and updating the records of the transport on a tablet

Your abilities

• Handle vulnerable animals with care
• Work independently
• Good level of Dutch, both spoken and writen
• Minimum age of twenty
• Handle a smartphone and tablet
• In possession of valid Dutch driving license B

Time commitment

Minimum time commitment: one day every three weeks (between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM). You can be called for a ride during these hours. Calls are made through a WhatsApp group. Outside of these hours, a general call will be made for urgent transports (injured/sick animals that cannot wait until the next day). Calls are busier in the summer than in the winter, as more animals are picked up then.
