Summary
You can make a difference by occasionally being present when an informal caregiver is going to do something for themselves.Detailed description
“Thanks to the arrival of the volunteer, I was able to get away for a while. I feel completely recharged again.”
Many people in the Woudhuis and Ossenveld neighborhoods sometimes care 24/7 for a loved one, such as a partner, parent or child. That care often comes from a lot of love, but informal caregivers also need relaxation. You can make a difference by being present when the informal caregiver is going to do something for themselves. Your presence and attention in the form of a chat, a walk or a game is greatly appreciated.
This project is a collaboration between Stichting de Kap and Talma Borgh. De Kap has been successfully deploying volunteers in people's homes for 55 years, and Talma Borgh offers professional care in a residential care center and in people's homes.
As a volunteer at home you come into someone's personal living environment. You get an insight into people's lives and sometimes you come to people in a vulnerable situation. This requires integrity and empathy. It is an independent form of volunteer work, so it is important that you can clearly indicate your boundaries and communicate well.
We are initially looking for six volunteers who can be deployed to people's homes on a permanent or flexible basis. We ask for an availability of approximately 2-5 hours per week and for a period of at least six months.
If you are interested or would like some more information first, we would like to get in touch with you.
