Detailed description
Are you passionate about animal rights, veganism and mentoring/recruiting volunteers?
Do you really want to make an impact and ensure that Bite Back can continue to grow?
Are you a sociable person and do you enjoy interacting with people?
Then we are looking for you!
Are you our new volunteer coordination hero?
For our volunteer coordination team we are looking for a volunteer who wants to help a few hours a week with recruiting volunteers, conducting interviews with (potential) volunteers, coming up with/developing ideas to keep volunteers satisfied and further committed to the organization and streamlining the working methods of the team itself.
Want to know more?
Below you can find all information about this volunteer vacancy. Please read this carefully before you respond.
To register?
Send us an email before December 8th or fill out the form on our Bite Back (.nl) page. After that period you will definitely receive a response from us.
Background
Bite Back is an animal rights/animal liberation organization that is committed to an animal-friendly society and does not forget issues surrounding human rights and the climate.
We want to achieve this by conducting active and effective campaigns. Think of our actions around the Dolfinarium and around the dairy industry. We conduct action in various ways and always look again at what can work best at that specific location: from information campaigns to fun actions, these are sometimes a little bit naughty and disobedient.
Volunteer coordination is a hugely important part of that. Without (satisfied) volunteers, we cannot start actions, campaigns and teams. The more volunteers are connected to the organization and the more they feel involved, the more we can ultimately achieve for the animals.
Tasks and responsibilities
Within the team (currently consisting of two people) there are all sorts of tasks that can be done. Think of the following:
- Writing volunteer vacancies and posting them on relevant pages.
- Conducting job application/intake interviews with potential volunteers.
- Devising and setting up activities, thank-you gifts and the like for volunteers.
- Maintaining the volunteer administration.
- Maintaining contact with the teams/campaigns to see where additional volunteers are needed.
- Maintaining contact with the volunteers to see where you can provide support to make the volunteer work even smoother/more effective/more enjoyable.
- Try to link tasks for which there are no volunteers yet to volunteers.
- Improving work processes.
Who exactly are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who:
- Preferably has experience in a similar position.
- If you have no experience as a volunteer coordinator, be prepared to invest time and energy in learning how such a position works and how to perform it effectively.
- Is sociable by nature and can get along well with people.
- Dare to show initiative.
- Works well in our small team, but can also perform tasks independently where necessary.
- Has good written and verbal communication skills in Dutch.
- Someone who can free up at least 3 hours per week (spread over the week) for volunteer work. Holidays and such excluded of course.
- Someone who wants to remain active for the Bite Back Foundation for at least 12 months.
Please note: because we are a small foundation with limited resources, we cannot provide extensive training in working as a volunteer coordinator. Therefore, we are really looking for someone with experience (or someone who is willing to learn this on their own initiative) and someone who is determined to stay with us for at least a year. So only respond if you think you can meet this requirement.
And someone who also:
- Passionate about animal rights and veganism.
- Vegan is either a vegetarian on the way to veganism.
- Agree to our code of conduct.
What do we offer?
- The opportunity to have a tangible impact on the animal rights movement in the Netherlands.
- The opportunity to make a difference for the animals.
- The opportunity to gain valuable experience as a volunteer coordinator
- The opportunity to work in a friendly team.
- Autonomy and space for your ideas.
In addition, we are currently working on setting up benefits and events for our volunteers.
