Summary

Bert is a 75-year-old man with a severe intellectual disability. He enjoys eating, swimming, cycling and walking. Are you going with him?

Detailed description

Who is Bart?

Bert is a 75-year-old man with a severe intellectual disability. He has been living in a residential group at our residential care park since he was 4 years old, where he receives 24-hour guidance and care. He functions at a toddler's level and communicates with gestures and sounds. Bert really enjoys eating and drinking, swimming, walking and cycling with a supervisor. He has little patience and needs clarity and predictability. Do what you say and say what you do. A volunteer will be trained by a permanent supervisor, so that you know how best to deal with Bert and learn to understand his gestures. Bert is autistic and has a number of compulsions.

What is Bert asking?

Bert really enjoys 1 on 1 attention and doing fun activities. Unfortunately, there is not always time for that, because he lives in a residential group with others.

We are looking for a volunteer who can eat something delicious with him at our Brasserie, want to swim with him, take a walk in our residential care park or go cycling together on the duo bike. Someone who is calm and clear, someone who really wants to get to know him and can therefore offer security and structure. It is important that you become known to him. Will you let Bert enjoy the activities he loves to do?

We offer you

  • A nice volunteer place
  • An end of year gift
  • Insured for WA and accidents
  • Travel allowance
  • Annual volunteer party as a thank you for your efforts
  • Possibility of training and information meetings
  • Committed contribution to clients
  • Plenty of appreciation and a priceless experience
