She likes to go to big flea markets. Previously it operated independently (America Hall), but this flea market no longer exists.
Detailed description
Gerie has an intellectual disability and lives in the residential care park of 's Heeren Loo.
If you go out to a flea market with Gerie – what does such a day look like?
Consultation and planning of the day takes place in advance via her supervisors. We look at what a good flea market is. She prefers to go to the big flea markets in the big halls.
Gerie would prefer to be at a flea market between 10 and 4.
You could pick her up and take her home, but if you have a stall at the flea market, for example, transport from the house could be arranged (both there and back).
Gerie prefers to wander around independently. If all goes well you won't see her much. She loves it when you have a cup of coffee with her or eat her lunch, but not for too long, because there is a lot of walking to do!
When are you needed?
Of course for the cheerful note, enjoying a huge flea market. (Riding there and back together is optional). But especially when something goes wrong (she loses her wallet, she is treated unfairly - unfortunately this sometimes happens; discrimination due to her disability - people do not take her seriously). Then there is panic. Gerie starts yelling and screaming and can no longer think clearly. She then needs you to say; STOP, I'll help you! (she is quite capable of coming to you - so you don't have to stay with her). And then we can look for a good solution together. This may mean that you find a solution together, but you can also call her for guidance.
In practice, such incidents are very rare.
Gerie would prefer to have it every week, but understands that this is not possible. Even if she can only do it 2 or 3 times a year (or even just once), she would be very happy.
What can Gerie offer?
Of course she is a wonderful person. Being unique in her. Enjoyment can come from her pores. She then almost radiates light. Extremely happy with her latest find; a doll, a beautiful bow, a thing of which we do not know what it represents, but which is gold to her. Find treasure without digging!
Gerie can very well meet the expenses (gasoline/expenses can be reimbursed). It costs you nothing, just some of your time.
