About YWCA KL - Young Women's Christian Association of Kuala Lumpur
The YWCA of Kuala Lumpur was established in 1913. We work for the development of women and girls irrespective of race, religion, culture, language and socio-economic circumstances to: 1) Help them to recognise that they are of equal value with the potential to contribute to society, 2) Enable them to achieve self-determination and self-reliance in all areas of life, 3) Motivate and enable them to achieve their full potential physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, and 4) Develop their leadership and moral courage to take responsible action towards improving their status
In 1998, the YWCA Kuala Lumpur set up the Vocational Training Opportunity Centre (VTOC) to provide much needed skills training for underprivileged young women and girls from economically disadvantaged families. In 2023, they started working towards creating a community garden known as the Oasis in their backyard as a contribution towards greening downtown KL.
