Summary
Reading and bringing language enjoyment to a family with children (2-8 years) in a poor language environment.Detailed description
As a reader, you read aloud every week to children between the ages of 3 and 9 who need extra support for their language development. You come to the family's home 20 times, at a fixed time during the week. You will be guided by a coordinator and you will receive 'interactive reading' training from the Wageningen Library. The VoorleesExpress is a special and educational experience for both families and readers.
What are you going to do?
As a reader, you slowly let parents and children get used to interactive reading, books and stories and show how much fun reading is. You can also do additional activities such as singing songs and language games to stimulate language development. You can also visit the library with the family. Together with the family, you look at how reading aloud best fits into their home situation and you give the parent(s) tools to take over themselves.
Due to the corona measures, we haven't been to people's homes for a while. We will start again in September!

Working time
The average commitment is 2 hours per week. The volunteer work consists of an hour of reading and some preparatory work. You should then think about selecting and borrowing books from the library. There is also e-learning that supports you and gives you tips on increasing parental involvement
