Social counselor

As a social counselor you offer help and support to refugees who settle in the municipality from an asylum seekers center. The purpose of this guidance is to teach refugees to cope in Dutch society and in Weesp in particular to feel at home here. You will be managed by the work supervisor and you will work together with other volunteers, the municipality and various other organizations and agencies.

You work from our office which is located in Weesp.

Tasks:

• Applying for various provisions (benefits, allowances, etc.)
• Explain procedures and authorities and mediate in contact
• Help fill in forms (on paper and digitally)
• Building a relationship of trust, offering a listening ear and referring if necessary
• Guidance towards self-reliance
• File structure, reporting and tracking progress in the client tracking system

We ask:

• Affinity with the target audience
• An accurate work style
• Good communication and (digital) administrative skills
• Being able to work well in a team
• Deployment of at least 4 hours per week, preferably on Wednesdays and / or Fridays during office hours
• The intention to commit to the Council for Refugees for a longer period of time, preferably for a period of 12 months (or longer)
