Summary
Help a young man (18 years old) find his way in Wageningen. A number of single young refugees will soon be living independently in rooms.Detailed description
Wageningen has a number of houses for unaccompanied minor refugees who live there with supervision. As soon as they turn 18, they get their own (student) room. From that moment on, a lot comes their way and they are supervised by a volunteer from VluchtelingenWerk for a period of one or one and a half years. If necessary, interpreters are available.
What are you going to do?
You help the young man with the paperwork and help him find his way in the municipality. Think for example of taking out insurance and energy contracts, applying for allowances and looking for further education. But the guidance goes further than just practical matters. It also involves finding his way in and around the house, making contacts in the neighbourhood, finding sports and leisure activities. A lot of attention is also paid to expanding the social network and the self-reliance of the refugee, so that they can work independently on their new future more quickly.
VluchtelingenWerk is looking for volunteers with a higher professional education work and thinking level, who are willing to commit themselves for at least two half days per week for a period of at least one year.
