As a mentor, you look after the personal interests of an adult client with a mental or psychological disability or with dementia. As a mentor you have regular personal contact with your client and you support him or her in making important decisions in care and welfare. You act as legal representative and maintain contact with the care providers and carers.
Responsible and meaningful work, with which you really make a difference!
For example for 75-year-old Carla, who is wheelchair bound and cannot speak. However, Carla sees and understands a lot, which makes it possible to establish good contact. Visits and especially a walk outside make her very happy.
Or for Otto, a 62-year-old man with a psychiatric disability. Otto avoids care and is unable to have real contact. This means that the mentorship is carried out remotely, in regular consultation with the Personal Counselor and the other care and assistance providers involved.
Mentorship is a legal protective measure, which is assigned by the court. The Northwest Central Mentorship Foundation is appointed by the judge for this purpose. As a voluntary mentor you will work for this foundation and you will perform the mentorship with a mandate. The foundation trains, supports and guides you in your role as a mentor.
