What is Grandma's Penpal?
With Oma's Penvriend we combat loneliness among the elderly (and young people) on a larger scale and at a deeper level. We match young and old to each other based on interests and personalities and introduce them to each other as Penvriend, whereby, as soon as there is a click, contact is maintained on a structural basis. This means that cards or letters are sent regularly, for example every two weeks or every month. As a support, volunteers receive reminders and conversation starters on a regular basis and we encourage both to meet each other in real life and possibly participate in our major annual events.
What are you going to do?
When you sign up as a Penpal, you will hopefully soon have a new friend to write cards or letters to and from! You will then be paired with one person to have contact with for a longer period of time. We believe it is important that contact is maintained on a structural basis, so that a personal bond can develop. We leave the contact up to you to coordinate, the important thing is that it suits both of you. For example, sending a card every other Friday, or a longer letter every month. Above all, explore together what works for you!
How does it work?

We will then put you in touch and help you on your way. We will regularly share useful tips to make the contact as smooth as possible, and ask you how things are going every now and then. And if you have any questions, we are always here. Together we will ensure that the contact is an enrichment for both of you!
