Detailed description
Helping out at the children's festival in Bussum is a lot of fun where the fun and enjoyment of the children comes first. Anyone who helps out as a volunteer at the Children's Festival in Bussum can roughly choose from four different activities: the toddlers on their own enclosed area, crafting in the creative tent, building huts or organizing (sports) competitions and games. The tasks within the components on the field are listed below to give you a clear picture.
To build huts
When building huts, the employees manage the materials (wood, nails and tools) and monitor safety in and around the hut camp. Understanding danger and safety is therefore very important here. The huts are built first and later decorated with beautiful cloths.
Creatively
The activities in the creative tent are designed, prepared and supervised by the volunteers of the Creative group. They ensure that the activities run as smoothly as possible and that the children have a great time while making crafts. Every day different crafts are made with wool, paper, paint, clay, cardboard, chenille wire, coloring pages, glue, beads and many other materials.
Sport game
The Sports & Games group prepares the sports activities and provides various fun games in the forest and on the festival site. There are many Sports & Games activities per day, such as football, Levend Stratego, treasure hunts in the forest, relay races on site and, in good weather, water games.
And further swimming and field crew…
Around noon we eat together and the children go swimming later in the afternoon. Many of the volunteers go to the swimming pool for an exhausting adventure in the water with the children. A few volunteers stay behind on the field to clean the tents, tidy up the field and empty wheelie bins. At the end of a children's festival day we all come together for a discussion and a snack to keep us thirsty and hungry.

About Kinderfestival Bussum
Zij vormen met enkele anderen de Kernploeg, bestaande uit 12 vaste vrijwilligers. Deze kernploeg komt maandelijks bij elkaar en zorgt op die manier jaarlijks voor een geweldig programma en de operationele organisatie tijdens het festival. Elk lid van de Kernploeg draagt zorg voor een specifiek onderdeel of activiteit van het Kinderfestival, tevens zijn zij het aanspreekpunt voor dat onderdeel.
Daarnaast zijn er veel vrijwilligers aanwezig tijdens het festival zelf. Afhankelijk van het aantal aanwezige vrijwilligers wordt bepaald hoeveel kinderen er per dag worden toegelaten op het terrein. Het Kinderfestival vindt altijd de eerste twee weken van de grote vakantie plaats, op de Struikheiweg achter De Zandzee.
Vrijwilligers op het Kinderfestival zijn niet zomaar vrijwilligers. Veel van hen zijn bezig met of hebben een opleiding gedaan, die in het werkveld passen. Dit is natuurlijk niet verplicht. Wel beschikt elke vrijwilliger over een VOG (Verklaring Omtrent Gedrag) voor het werken met kinderen.
